Hyceon is committed to making its website usable by as many people as possible. This statement sets out how accessible hyceon.com currently is and how to tell us about a problem.

It applies to hyceon.com in both its English and German versions. This is an initial statement published at launch. A full accessibility audit is planned for October 2026, after which this statement will be replaced.

Compliance status

This website is partially conformant with EN 301 549 / WCAG 2.2 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that parts of the site do not yet meet the standard.

This assessment is a self-assessment carried out in September 2026, combining automated testing with manual inspection. It was not an independent audit and it did not include testing with screen readers or with disabled users. There are likely to be further barriers we have not yet identified. We intend to address the issues below following the full audit in October 2026.

Non-accessible content

The following are known not to meet the standard.

  1. On screens narrower than 1024 pixels, the control that opens the main navigation menu cannot be operated by keyboard. At these sizes the main menu is the only way to move around the site.
  2. The site search buttons, the announcement bar close button, the header logo (which is the link to the home page) and two footer social links have no text alternative, so screen readers cannot say what they do.
  3. Almost every image is published with an empty alternative text, including photographs of our leadership team. Project gallery images are the exception.
  4. The team slider and the project gallery advance automatically every six seconds, with no pause control for people who do not use a mouse.
  5. The home page has no main heading, and on other pages the navigation menu headings come before the page’s own heading in the underlying structure.
  6. Some text does not have enough contrast against its background: the main navigation links, the statistic labels on the home page, and the label on the floating help button.
  7. Large section headings fade in one word at a time as you scroll and are too faint to read until the effect finishes. The effect runs even for visitors who have asked their device to reduce motion.
  8. The site does not define its own keyboard focus indicator and relies on the browser default, which is faint on some of our custom controls.
  9. No form field tells the browser what kind of information it expects, so none can be filled in automatically. Validation errors are not summarised at the top of the form.
  10. The search form appears twice in the page code, duplicating several element identifiers.
  11. The announcement bar text sits outside the regions that assistive technology uses to navigate.
  12. The German site is incomplete — some pages and most project case studies are in English only — and English text on German pages is not marked with its own language.
  13. Testing with screen readers, testing with disabled users, and an independent audit have not yet been carried out.

Disproportionate burden

We are not claiming disproportionate burden for any part of this website.
